When seeking training, you should ensure your tutor is a Master Groomer, to ensure the highest standards are met. Our owner and instructors teach the art of dog grooming to the highest level, with 30 plus years of international experience.

The student will groom two complete dogs per day and assist in the daily functions of a grooming salon. The prior list will be conducted on a daily routine to perfect and gain speed and knowledge of the job. A goal of 4 to 6 dogs groomed in a day. Time and practice and confidence building from your instructor will get there. 5 days a week 9 to 4 pm.

  • Payment Options

    Payment options are available for every course we offer. For our 2 week courses an upfront deposit of $1,350 followed by 25 weeks of $54 is available. For our 9 week course please enquire to discuss financing.

  • Tutor Support

    When seeking training, you should ensure your tutor is a Master Groomer, to ensure the highest standards are met. JR Alcantra has over 30 years of experience and teaches the art of dog grooming to the highest level.

  • Certification

    A Certificate of attainment will be issued upon completion of your course to hang in your salon and add to your resume.

All courses will be taught with modern techniques and equipment.Students are required to have their own equipment.

  • Course 1: Bath and Brusher Groomer Assistant


    Duration - 2 Weeks | $2,700 NZD


    The Student will learn to identify breeds, anatomy, coat types, correct products , correct handling techniques to ensure the dog has the safest and best psychological experience, bath, dry, cut nails, clean ears, trim pads and sanitary and use of tools to prepare a dog for the groomer.

  • Course 2: Begin Grooming


    Duration - 2 Weeks | $2,700 NZD


    Each Course must be completed with a passing mark to progress. Introduction to basic grooming using your clipper, blades and scissors. The student will have 2 dogs to groom and complete in a day ending with an adorable Teddy head.

  • Course 3: Grooming with Style


    Duration - 2 Weeks | $2,700 NZD


    The student will learn breed specific trims and patterns and current styles. The student will have 2 dogs per day to groom and complete in a day.

  • Course 4: The Professional Package


    Duration - 9 Weeks | $8,500 NZD


    This course is for the person wanting to leave training and start working. It covers Course 1,2,3 and gives you an extra three weeks to gain your confidence and speed with constant mentoring from your instructors. Truly the best program for the one seeking a career in the industry.
